Synth pop comes to life once again in quite spectacular form thanks to Mons Montis!

Our 'Song Of The Day' comes from yet another Swedish act (it feels a bit like Stereo Gold is slowly merging into Scandipop, but trust me, it's just accidental that Sweden are SO GOOD). Never the less, Mons Montis are a breezy synth-pop/dream-pop band who have come to my attention recently thanks to their track, 'Swept'.

The track wastes no time getting into business, with an almost 'broken record' type feel kicking off the track and some whirring AlunaGeorge-esque noises make their way into the track. But it's not long before it bursts into a powerful plodding synth-based track which catches your attention in quite an emphatic style. The lead singer, Julia Hjertström, has a voice that reminds us a little of Vanbot in the verses. It has that gorgeous silkiness that rests on top of the track so beautifully in the verses and really creates a dreamy atmosphere.

The chorus is a different story when it comes to Julia's vocals though. The bouncing synth carries through to the chorus but is kicked up a notch, but as the power builds in the instrumental, so does the power in the vocals. It's a real sing along moment and makes the track feel even more epic than it already was.

'Swept' is a real joy to listen to and we look forward to hearing more from Mons Montis in the future. Even their name is quite fantastic somehow.
