Foxes - The Unknown

Two blog posts in one night? Somebody's inspired by some real good music - and it comes from no other than Foxes!

Louisa Rose Allen, better known by her stage name Foxes, has been racking up attention from blogs since early 2012 - when her gorgeous, yet haunting, track 'Youth' sparked interest in the young Brit - and the track 'Echo' which came from her 'Warrior EP' furthered this interest, painting Foxes as somebody who could be huge in 2013. Quite shockingly to me though, she wasn't on the BBC Sound Of 2013 list - but that hasn't stopped her notching up a top 40 hit, as the vocallist with Russian producer, Zedd, whose single 'Clarity' peaked at #29 just a couple of weeks ago.

In hindsight, that huge chunk of information isn't necessary, as anyone who knows music right now, likely has a fair idea of who Foxes is. But, I'm here to talk about a demo track of hers which has reminded of just why I love Foxes - 'The Unknown'. The track has definite vibes of the Marina & The Diamonds 'Family Jewels' sound - from the chirpy synths, the personality-filled tune of the song, and the intriguing tone of her vocals, aswell as the accent which shines through.

The Unknown may well even be my favourite track of hers to date, with a chorus that really thumps in, and definitely reminds me of a track from 'The Family Jewels'. The production is very synthy, but not in an overly dramatic way, just enough to really create a memorable melody - and helps to craft a wonderful pop song that Foxes seems to be able to make effortlessly, the chorus of this track being a perfect example of this.

It seems shocking to me that this is just a demo - it's such a good track! Make your own decision on it, by listening here:
