Frida Sundemo - Snow
On Sunday night - we wrote about Miriam Bryant, a wonderfully talented Swedish artist - and our next artist is further proof that Sweden have got pop down to a tee at the moment!
Frida Sundemo is a Swedish electro-pop female from Gothenburg - and she's already been getting music lovers very interested, as her track 'Indigo' made waves on the internet. Her sound is easily comparable to that of Swedish electropopper Robyn, which is a fabulous comparison. Indigo boasted a very memorable chorus, and I was certainly a fan. But, I think she may have just gone one step further with her newest effort, which is a complete MOMENT.
Sundemo certainly impresses with her new track, 'Snow', which is a musical delight in every aspect. From the opening, a repeated pulsating beat that is quite remiscent of the intro to Dancing On My Own by Robyn, the song feels like it's going to build to something incredible. But, you don't quite expect it to build throughout the whole 4 minutes of the song, which it most certainly does - growing from a tender opening to a grand, glorious and anthemic ending.
The chorus feels very raw, in her vocals as she sings the lyrics 'surrounded by the snow' a couple of times. Now, with the current weather in the UK (the frigging snow), this song doesn't feel like it could've come at a better time - it's the only positive thing about the term 'snow' right now, quite simply. Thanks Frida.
The last 40 seconds of this song are literally incredible. As soon as Frida emotionally belts out 'I'm alone' - you can feel you're heading towards one hell of an intro. A smooth male vocal guides up out of the song, while some gorgeous synths laden the track with such a divine beauty.
Indigo was very good - but Snow is on another level. A pure 10/10 moment.
