STARFUCKER - LEAVE IT ALL BEHIND

Whilst indie music isn't always our sort of thing, we always appreciate a good bit of indie with it's electronic touches.

Recent songs from Passion Pit ('Take A Walk') and St Lucia ('September) will definitely see a lot of their fans lie in the indie genre, but it's their electronic sound enfused with it that opens them up to a whole new audience. And, here is also where Starfucker belong - or at least with 'Leave It All Behind', the only song we've heard by them at this moment in time. But, we'll definitely be looking for more, and we hear that 'While I'm Alive' shares a similar sound to the track we're blogging about today.

'Leave It All Behind' begins with a sound that almost sounds like the track is scratched, with this sort of sound recurring - and it also becomes a recurring sound throughout the whole song, along with some wonderful synths. Before each chorus, the track goes silent to really hit in with the full impact of the big chorus. But, the bit that most excited us about this song was the abstract middle 8 with lots of crazy synths exploding all over the joint - and this then transcends into a nice plodding drum beat with calmer synths laid on top.

By the end of the song, it doesn't really have a structure - but this is something that interests us more if anything. It goes from manic, to calm, then to a mixture of both, and it's almost like a roulette of which kind of emotion you're going to feel. A looped ending of the vocal 'leave it all behind' gives a nice outro, before the track finishes rather abruptly.

We're going off to do some Starfucking™ now, but we suggest that you check out 'Leave It All Behind' right here;
