AlunaGeorge are a London based duo, enfusing RnB, pop and alternative into one jam packed beauty with their music!

We've been familiar with AlunaGeorge since late 2010 when we first heard their track, 'You Know You Like It', and it wasn't something that we immediately took to. Their odd, glitchy sound which had splashes of several genres packed into just one track was something that was quite intriguing, even if it wasn't something that you immediately warmed to. The combination of Aluna Francis's quirky, cutesy and unmissable British accent with the production from George Reid (trippy, with touches of electronics bleeping, and hard-hitting drum beats) definitely caught our attention. Not to mention the video, simple in it's black and white, but with a fierce Aluna Francis throwing herself around the screen in a tasselled dress - it was certainly one that caught the eye.

But, the track that really brought AlunaGeorge to the public eye, following on from their critically acclaimed You Know You Like It EP, was Your Drums, Your Love. The track built on the hype that was brought along in bucketloads by You Know You Like It - but brought more memorable hooks, and more glitchy production to further the intrigue. The track draws you in immediately with an eery looped sample of 'your drums, we're drumming, your drums' that adds quirk from the get go. What we get from the track that we get from the chorus that we didn't get with the previous single, is a very impressive chorus that develops from the soft verses. Aluna comes in more powerfully singing 'I've been treading water for your love' - which portrays the message that regardless of whether she 'sinks or swims' in the relationship, she'll still be thinking of her partner. Despite the incredible computer-wizadry from Harry Reid, the message of the song isn't lost thanks to the strength of the chorus.

We're given plenty of glitchy bleeps, heavy beats and light vocals from both tracks - and that's what you can come to expect from AlunaGeorge. And, one of their main successes is that we've been trying to think who they remind us of in order to write this blog post - and we can't think of anyone. This can only work in their favour for 2013.

AlunaGeorge appear in BBC Sound Of 2013's longlist, so make sure to check that out on the BBC website!
