KATIE SKY - ONLY YOU

Only You marks the return of Bristol-based pop singer, Katie Sky.

Katie Sky might not be a common name when you hear about rising stars from Britain - but don't let that fool you into thinking she doesn't have some beautiful tracks under her belt. 'Sweet Sweet Melody' was the main track that really got the public interested in her, with her quirky, but saccharine sweet vocals over an infectious track, and she returns with yet another memorable little ditty.

Only You is a track that immediately reminds me of Ellie Goulding, and certainly wouldn't go out of place on Goulding's Lights album. Although, seeing as there is a song on Ellie's Halycon album - it's probably best we stop that comparison before it gets massively confusing. The track doesn't quite have the cute sound that Sweet Sweet Melody so effortlessly oozed - but it's hardly a million miles away. The song starts off with a simple twee guitar in the verses, and hits in the chorus with strong drum beats over the top of the guitar. This drum beat gets stronger throughout the song, building up to an oomph-tastic final chorus.

It's another very good track from Katie, and she seems to effortlessly be able to produce beautiful songs of this variety - although perhaps that may just lie in the purity and delicacy of her voice.

Is 'Only You' better than Sweet Sweet Melody? Not quite, but top marks for effort, and certainly no embarrassment of a follow-up.
